Shiraz and Oysters

We had been looking forward to visiting the city of Adelaide since the begining of our trip. While living in Broken Hill we had visited Adelaide on many occasions as it was only 5 hrs away.

Adelaide is a smaller capital city but has plenty to offer. We like it so much that we would like to live there...the only drawback is that it is too far from our families.

So what is there to do in Adelaide? I hear you ask. The answer my friends is eat and drink!

Central Market is a favorite hang out of ours where there is an abundance of fresh produce, coffee and gormet food shops. The prices are great and they are open every day. Our favorites are;
            # The Mushroom Shop
            # Lucias for all your pasta needs
            # Haiges (Adelaide is the birthplace of Haigs chocolate
            # Zuma's for coffee and banana bread
            # The yoghurt shop
            # The many fresh fruit and veg places

We also visited China Town which is next to Central Market. It has a good Asian Grocer and good Asian restaurants. Just down from Central Market there is also a great Sushi Train! Toot Toot!
Happy Birthday to me!

We had lunch at Dumpling King where they hand make their dumplings each morning and I have to recommend the red bean pancake which is yummo! The red bean paste oozes out the side of the folded and fried pancakes and one serve seems not to be enough.

While in Adelaide we stayed at Brown Hill Lake Caravan Park which was $34 for a powered site, was close to the CBD and had clean, well maintained facilities.

A thank you to Con and Helen for recomending the Handorf ChocoVino experience. The Handorf winery makes excellent full bodied Shiraz and for $20 you can have a 3 glass taisting that is paired with some of the worlds best chocolates. You are also treated to the most pure water from Tasmania (it is used at the Oscars apparently) and the service is exceptional without being pretentious. The experience was well worth the price.

We heart Glenelg Beach
While in Adelaide we celebrated my birthday a little early so I could enjoy the day shopping, eating and swimming at the beach at Glenelg. The weather was warm and a great day was had.

Thank you to my family, especially Mum who organised to put some money in my bank account so I could purchase a better than gortex rain jacket from Macpac. Its great...thanks everyone!

From Adelaide we travelled to Cowell. We had some trouble getting a camp site on the Easter Weekend that was not full of drunkards but finally found some peace in the little town of Cleve. A great free camp that is well maintained.

Thanks for my Birthday present!
We have been enjoying the sea food of Cowell the last few days, even scoring some free crab whcih was creamy and very fresh.

We are on the seafood trail now so good bye Shiraz and hello oysters!

Love lots
