Much Ado About Melbourne.

Melbourne + Coffee = Happy
Back to Melbourne we went and a big thank you (again) to Victor for allowing us to stay at his house. It is a welcome sight at the end of the road when you see a friendly face, a shower and a washing machine.

Victor lives in a great suburb of Melbourne. It has everything a person would need and the people are very friendly. We had a great time, again, just hanging around.

Go Mark!

The purpose for our 3rd return visit to Melbourne was to run in the 14km Run for the Kids fun run. Mark had been training as best he could and was fairly well prepared for the race. I, on the other hand, was still battling an achillies injury and had to make the painful decision not to run due to the fact that even walking was pretty painful. Mark, Victor and Frankie competed and did really well. It is a well organised event and it was excellent to spectate and watch the winners come in to the finish line.

While in Melbourne we were lucky enough to take in an AFL game. I had not been to a game before and the only NRL game I had been to was with my cousins then husband Palalie in Sydney. I was SUPER excited even though I only have a basic understanding of the confusing rules. It was the Hawkes vs Collingwood and I was going for the Collingwood.

We were a little late in arriving and as we took our seats the man next to us informed us we 'missed the mark of the year.' It is only 2 games into the season so that seemed a bit silly but it turns out that the mark we missed was fantastic. Oh well. The game was packed at about 78 000 people and the atmosphere was electrifying. The crowd was even more intense than the game as people screamed and cried for their players and their team.

I will admit that I get very involved when yelling for the Mighty Eugowra Eagles but I have NOTHING on these supporters. They are mad. Dressed in team colours and screaming the whole time. Standing and shaking their fists, calling every player by name and shedding tears at good or bad news. It was a sight to behold. I am so glad that we got to experience this amazing sporting event.

We were also lucky enough to go to a gig at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. It was a funny little show my a guy called Micheal Hing who was talking about why fat white people are to blame for many of the worlds problems. It was funny and Mark and I could defiantly relate to it! (Danger Mouse if you are reading this he talked about the sense of entitlement, which was interesting).

While in Melbourne we visited the National Art Gallery which was free and has an extensive collection of art from 1400-1800 which we really enjoyed. The photography gallery was a little disappointing but we are just being picky I think!

A highlight was, again, the great company in the form of Victor and Frankie. Thank you for making our Melbourne experience so excellent!
